AP U.S. HISTORY

Taken '19 - '20

EXPERIENCE WITH THE COURSE

If Jericho didn't come up with the whole P+/P/NC grading policy for Quarter 4, this class would've been my lowest grade in all of high school lol. My APUSH teacher (Bensen) was a good teacher but a hard grader, so while her lectures were interesting, my grades didn't exactly reflect the effort I put into the class. Although the material isn't that difficult, there's quite a lot of things to remember, and tests were hit or misses. I find that watching videos for history classes work for me because the events get presented in a story-like way.

Something I want to add: the American history curriculum in the U.S. presents a glorified, white-washed version of history that overlooks BIPOC perspectives and certain events (genocide of Native Americans, various discrimatory policies, Japanese internment, and more). This glorification of  the U.S. and its actions in history goes much beyond individual classrooms. Just something to keep in mind.

ABOUT THESE NOTES

Some of these were created in preparation for the AP, and the rest are the textbook notes I took when I felt motivated (this is why I don't have outlines of every chapter). I decided against including the notes I took in class because I barely took any notes this year (it was easier to just listen and occasionally write a few things down), and the notes I did have were disorganized.
